New product: Navman MY Truck II

Satellite-navigation specialist Navman has unveiled a new and improved version of its truck-specific GPS
Navman has unveiled its latest truck-specific GPS navigation system.
Navman's MY Truck II feature a sizeable 7-inch screen that's well suited to larger vehicles, making it easier for drivers to view map details. The company says it also offers improved guidance for B-doubles and vehicles carrying hazardous materials, and comes with a free lifetime supply of monthly map updates – so drivers will always be up to date with the latest road and route details.
According to Wendy Hammond, Country Director for Navman Australia, MY Truck II represents a significant progression from the original MY Truck GPS system released in 2012.
"The MY Truck II incorporates some big advances in terms of the appearance and functionality of the device that we believe will really help improve the driving experience for truck drivers," she said.
"For example, the bigger screen just makes sense as it means GPS maps and instructions are more convenient to view, while the most up-to-date mapping information is crucial for truck drivers who cover many kilometres and spend so much time on the road.
"Updates to the device also include vigorous testing to significantly enhance and enrich the device's professional truck mode, which provides special guidance for B-doubles and HAZMAT-restricted vehicles. The function takes away the need to have to boringly plan a trip using road gazettes – simply enter your truck's dimensions and loads and the Navman MY Truck II will offer routes suitable for your vehicle."
Other features include a fuel search to allow drivers to find the nearest petrol station with the right specific fuel, landmark guidance that points out the colours and names of certain building and geographical features for easier navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, and premium driver alerts highlighting sharp bends, steep gradients, areas of high wind and more.
The system also integrates with the Australian Good Food Guide and Lonely Planet guides to allow drivers to unearth a range of other valuable information.

Navman's MY Truck II has a recommended retail price of $499 and comes with a two-year warranty. See www.navman.com.au for more information.
