New tipper trailers have plenty of innovation

After giving the industry a sneak preview at the Brisbane Truck Show last May, Hamelex White has announced the release of its new tipper range, VersaBOLT. A revolution in trailer design, at the heart of the VersaBOLT concept is a modular bolted design, rather than traditional welding, which increases flexibility and maintainability, while reducing lead times.

MaxiTRANS Managing Director, Michael Brockhoff, said that VersaBOLT delivers versatility to the market. Initially available in high tensile steel rigid and dog combinations, further models will become available in the coming months. “Buyers will be able to choose between high tensile steel, aluminium, or a combination of both, which is easily achieved by choosing the appropriate modules during assembly,” he said. “This increases flexibility of options and ensures you can get the right trailer for the job, be it in quarry, construction, demolition or bulk.”

Referring to the combination of aluminium and high tensile steel, Michael said that, for example, a high tensile steel floor can be specified for durability, joined with aluminium walls for a lower tare weight. “We believe these ‘hybrid’ trailers will be truly a revolution to the industry,” he stated.

Hamelex White said that the base, front wall, rear frame, side walls and mudguard sections can be easily unbolted and replaced, if required, resulting in dramatically reduced downtime should a section be damaged.

VersaBOLT isn’t just about modular design and maintainability either. Hamelex White has incorporated a number of patent-pending smarts into its new model, which positions the new range as technologically advanced. One such innovation is a forward-mounted two-way tailgate which is designed to be able to be switched between side and top hinged at any time with the simple turn of a lever. The end result of this is a multi-purpose trailer, with the gate able to be manipulated to suit the load carried and unloading-style required.

When unloading, a side-operated internal locking mechanism allows the tailgate to be opened from a safe position beside the trailer, rather than behind. “Safety is an important consideration in all MaxiTRANS-manufactured trailers,” said Michael, referring to Hamelex White’s parent company. “This applies to all perspectives, from the operator to other road users.”

Tailgate hinges on VersaBOLT models are positioned below the top rail, allowing the tarp to be rolled all the way to the back. “Tipper operators will be familiar with the common problem of hinges getting in the way of tarps and not being able to secure the load completely,” Michael said. “We’ve solved that problem with a simple but effective design.”

On the high-tensile steel models, Hamelex White has incorporated a pressed wall design, which it says protects the walls against buckling or creasing.

Hamelex White’s VersaBOLT range is available immediately in high-tensile steel rigid and three-axle dog configurations, with four-axle dogs available to order. All models will be supported by Hamelex White’s two-year warranty with full parts and service support via its Australian network of dealers and authorised service partners.
