Volvo Trucks to debut new FE model at Melbourne Expo

Volvo Trucks is bringing an Aussie first to Melbourne to mark its participation in the first Waste Management In Action Expo.

The truck manufacturer will unveil its new FE Euro 6 Dual Control 6×4 rear-air suspension waste truck on the first day of the event, which is part of the International Truck, Trailer & Equipment Show.

The new Volvo FE Dual Control has been designed to deliver world-class safety features and to deal with the challenges of urban areas. It features rear air suspension in a 6×4 axle configuration and improved driver ergonomics, boosted by a wider windshield and additional side mirrors for better vision. It is also better for the environment, with fuel-saving technology and low Euro 6 emissions.

Mitch Peden, Vice President of Volvo Trucks Australia, said: “We are very excited to be conducting a world-first reveal of the new Australian FE Euro 6 Dual Control truck at the Waste Management In Action event. This truck has been designed and adapted locally and in consultation with leading Australian waste management companies to meet and exceed requirements for this market.”

To mark its launch in Australia, Volvo Trucks will be demonstrating the new FE on the Test Track at the expo, giving visitors a close-up view of the model’s capabilities. Its display times in the Test Track arena are 11.30am and 2.30pm on Thursday 5 and Friday 6 May.

“The new truck has un-paralleled driver visibility and improved driver ergonomics – and most importantly, the new truck features Volvo’s world-class safety and technological innovations, including emergency braking as standard,” added Peden.

“We know that safety is paramount for councils and operators who provide waste management services in busy residential streets and high-traffic urban environments. So we are looking forward to introducing this new model to the market in Melbourne, where its impressive capabilities will be on show on the test track.”

In addition Volvo Trucks will have two display stands in the Waste Management In Action outdoor areas, where it will be showcasing both the FE Dual Control and the FM front lift, which is designed to handle heavier work. It will have a team of product experts, engineers and sales consultants to handle any queries about the Volvo truck range.

The Waste Management In Action expo will be held at the Melbourne Showgrounds from May 5 to 7.
