The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) has officially confirmed its involvement in the International Truck, Trailer & Equipment Show (ITTES) in Melbourne, May 5-7.
The Brisbane-based government body is the latest high-ranking industry organisation to be taking part in the iconic Melbourne event, which is also supported by the Australian Road Transport Suppliers’ Association (ARTSA), the Australian Trucking Association (ATA), the Australian Logistics Council (ALC), the National Road Transport Association (NatRoad) and the Victorian Transport Association (VTA).
According to John Murphy, Chairman of the Show’s organising committee, the NHVR’s involvement will further enhance the event’s focus on latest generation transport equipment – with a special focus on the world-unique Performance-Based Standards (PBS) scheme.
“The team behind ITTES is committed to providing a platform for home-grown innovation, which is why there will be a large showcase of PBS-approved equipment at the Show – not only stationary, but also live and in action on our new outside test yrack.”
Murphy added, “PBS is the most progressive heavy vehicle design scheme in the world, and we want to celebrate that success jointly with the industry body responsible for it.
“Talk to any international truck size and weight expert – PBS the envy of the developed world. Naturally, we want to give our visitors the opportunity to experience it in all its facets and complexity.”
With the NHVR now also taking part in the Show, Murphy said the 2016 edition of ITTES was on track to becoming the most complete showcase of uniquely Australian transport equipment ever staged in Australia, “with broad support from the highest levels of industry”.
