Nissan completes Navara range

The roll-out of Nissan's new NP300 Navara range is now complete, with 13 new variants spanning single-cab, king-cab and dual-cab/chassis formats joining the dual-cab pick-ups that went on sale mid-year.

The family spans 4x2 and 4x4 models, four trim grades (DX, RX, ST and ST-X) and three engines (2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol, 2.3-litre four-cylinder single turbo-diesel, 2.3-litre four-cylinder twin turbo-diesel), with the basic six-speed manual backed up by an optional seven-speed auto (add $2500) on some models.

The entry-level 4x2 single-cab DX with 2.5-litre petrol engine (122kW/238Nm) kicks the range off from $24,993 (estimated driveaway price) and, like the rest of the single-cabs, comes standard with seven airbags, stereo with CD and USB/iPod connectivity, hands-free telephony and three 12-volt power sockets. The remaining single-cab models are powered by the 2.3-litre single turbo-diesel (120kW/403Nm), the 4x4 RX with optional auto transmission.

For additional space the four-seater king-cab range is available as an RX cab/chassis (4x2 or 4x4), RX pick-up (4x4), ST pick-up (4x4) or ST-X pick-up (4x4), with the auto available as an option on the ST and ST-X (both with the twin-turbo engine, 140kW/450Nm).

Rounding out the new arrivals is the dual-cab/chassis model, which is only available in 4x4 in the RX grade with the single-turbo diesel.

While the entry-level petrol Navara gets by with a towing capacity of 1588kg, the remainder of the Navara range push that figure to 3500kg. The newcomers boast payload figures ranging from 966kg (king-cab ST-X 4x4 auto) to 1362kg (single-cab RX 4x2 manual).

While the dual-cab pick-ups ride on multi-link coil-spring rear suspension, the remainder of the Navara range are fitted with traditional leaf springs at the rear.

The full NP300 Navara range has been awarded a five-star ANCAP safety rating, even when fitted with a genuine Nissan bullbar.
