Nola Bransgrove lauded

Nola Bransgrove has been awarded NatRoad's Ted Pickering Award for her contribution to the road freight industry

The fourth annual recipient of NatRoad's Ted Pickering Award for Outstanding Contribution to Australia's Road Transport Industry is Nola Bransgrove, NTC commissioner and co-owner of Victorian road freight firm, BransTrans Pty Ltd.

Announced by out-going NatRoad President Geoff Crouch at the 2015 NatRoad Conference gala dinner in Brisbane, Mrs Bransgrove has served as an NTC commissioner since January 2014 and she currently chairs two industry bodies: Transport and Distribution Training and Women in Supply Chain.

Previously she has served as Councillor for Traralgon Shire Council, Commissioner of Latrobe Regional Commission, Trustee Director of the Transport Industry Superannuation Fund, and Councillor of the Victorian Freight and Logistics Council.

She also received an Order of Australia medal in 2012 for her services to the transport industry, women and the community.

Mrs Bransgrove now joins Noelene Watson, Doug and Pam McMillan and Dick Kyle in receiving the award, which is named in honour of the late Ted Pickering, industry stalwart and co-founder of the Pickering Transport Group. PTG Corporate Manager, Daryl Pickering, was on hand to introduce the award.

Mrs Bransgrove told conference delegates at the Cummins and PACCAR & PACCAR Dealers Gala Dinner on August 15 that she was enjoying her role within the NTC and was delighted to see that the body had followed through on its promise of respectful industry consultation.

She also expressed her thanks for the assistance she has received from within the road freight industry.

"I've really appreciated the support I've had from the industry," she said.

"After getting over being terrified by other people's expectations, I can now accept that I only know what I know and what I don't know I don't know, and that's okay – and that if I need to know something I can go and find out.

"Thank you very much for this award, it's a real honour."
