Nominate a workshop star

Nominations are open for the 2014 Craig Roseneder Award, which recognises excellence in truck workshop staff
Just one month remains to nominate a high-performing member of a staff from a trucking industry workshop for the 2014 Craig Roseneder Award.
The accolade recognises outstanding workshop managers or mechanics – individuals who exemplify technical and maintenance excellence in the truck workshop field.
Awarded annually since 1998, the award honours the late Craig Roseneder, a man who worked tirelessly to develop and promote a safer road transport industry and who was instrumental in the early stages of the ATA's TruckSafe accreditation program.
Nominations can be made by peers or employers for anyone who works full-time in the Australian trucking industry for a trucking company, supplier or commercial workshop as a workshop manager or mechanic, or someone who provides support in the maintenance field for heavy vehicles. Prospective nominees must also have worked in the field for a minimum of five years.
The winner of the 17th Annual Craig Roseneder Award, who will be announced at the 2014 PACCAR and Dealer TMC event in Melbourne in late October, will win a prize package comprising return flights to Nashville, Tennessee and full registration for the US Technology and Maintenance Council 2015 Annual Meeting and Transportation Technology Exhibition, plus fight nights' accommodation, $A1500 spending money and more.
The Chief Executive of the Australian Trucking Association, Stuart St Clair, said the winners of the Craig Roseneder Award were thoroughly deserving of the recognition.
"Safety is our industry's number one priority, and our workshop staff play an essential part in making sure we have safe, reliable vehicles on the road," he said.
"But as well as keeping vehicles in top shape, many workshops actively push to improve safety in our industry by developing new solutions to trucking problems.
"2013 Craig Roseneder winner Wayne Merrick from Boral Logistics developed and introduced a number of important safety features to their fleet after listening to complaints from drivers, including a tailgate lock indicator for tipper bins and LED undersill door lights.
"It’s this sort of can-do attitude that really sets our winners apart. If you know an outstanding workshop manager or mechanic like this, I urge you to nominate them for this award."

Nominations close on September 23, 2014. Click here for more information and to download a nomination form.
