Orionstone, a specialist in the hire of heavy earthmoving equipment, recently added an Isuzu FYH 2000 to its fleet of service vehicles.
The 8x4 vehicle now sits alongside two Isuzu FVZ 1400s, two NPS 200s, and two NPS 300s, and is destined to assist in the servicing of equipment currently on hire at Rio Tinto Alcan’s (RTA) bauxite mine near Weipa, on Cape York.
Orionstone is based in Mackay, Queensland, but its 110 employees are also spread across facilities in Brisbane, the Hunter Valley, Perth and Kalgoorlie. It presently leases around 300 machines, including mining dump trucks, dozers and excavators, among others.
Its latest addition has a service module body, giving the Isuzu the ability to store diesel, engine oil, waste oil and hydraulic fluid, while it also features a grease tank and pumping equipment.
The truck provides in-pit servicing, minimising downtime and service costs.
Operating in a particularly tough environment, Orionstone had the truck fitted with a bull bar and a roll-over protection system, also having the rig finished with a durable Amolock 400 protective surface coating.
According to Orionstone’s General Manager – National Accounts, Ben Hailes, the Isuzu stood out for several reasons.
“We wanted a truck that could handle the harsh conditions you often find at remote mine sites,” he said.
“Carrying capacity was also important as we wanted a truck that could transport the service module used by the FYH 2000’s predecessor.
“The ease of sourcing Isuzu parts was also highly regarded.
“We regularly upgrade our service fleet to ensure that everything is in working order and Isuzu will continue to be top of our list when we do.”
