Mildura-based operator, GTS Freight Management, has signed a deal with Penske Commercial Vehicles to take delivery of 10 examples of MAN's new prime mover, the TGX-D38.
Powered by MAN's advanced new D38 six-cylinder turbo-diesel, GTS is scheduled to receive the trucks later in the year, and will be assisted by PCV's new Mildura-based dealer partner, Marshall Group.
GTS decided to take the trucks on following a trial of the new flagship model late last year.
Penske Commercial Vehicles' Managing Director, Kevin Dennis, said he was thrilled with the order.
"We have a long-standing relationship with GTS Freight Management so once we launched the D38, we provided a demo model and the feedback was very positive," he said.
"The D38 offers great cost efficiency and high productivity which are key to the success of our customers."
Optimised for local conditions, the truck is powered by a 15.2-litre engine producing 560hp and 3000Nm.
The Managing Director of GTS Freight Management, Damien Matthews, said the truck was a great fit for their national wine and beverage transport business.
"Our drivers have been very complimentary of the D38's ride which, when coupled with the truck's impressive performance and cost effectiveness, has led to us placing an order to purchase 10 D38s," he said.
"Safety is also paramount to our operations, so the safety features and driver assistance options offered on the D38 were also critical factors in our decision.
"And with the Penske Commercial Vehicles/Marshall Group partnership in Mildura, we will have local support for our fleet, which is important for the long term."
