The automotive empire of US entrepreneur Roger Penske continues to expand, with US-based Penske Truck Leasing Co recently announcing the number of Penske Used Trucks dealerships in North America has grown from three to six.
Penske Used Trucks dealerships have opened recently in Dallas (Texas) and Atlanta (Georgia) in the US and in Mississauga (Ontario) in Canada, doubling the business's footprint from the existing outlets in Phoenix (Arizona), Torrance (California) and Charlotte (North Carolina).
According to Jack Mitchell, Penske Vice President of Remarketing, the new additions will further consolidate the company's push into the massive North American used truck market.
"These commercial truck dealerships have proven to be an effective sales channel for our company," he said.
"We are picking strong truck resell markets when deciding on new locations. The centres complement our website, call center and Penske dealer representative sales efforts."
Through its various divisions and interests Penske Corporation has over 1000 locations across North America, South America, Europe and Asia, from which it operates more than 200,000 vehicles.
Here in Australia, Brisbane-based Penske Commercial Vehicles oversees the importation and distribution of Western Star, MAN and Dennis Eagle trucks, while parent company Penske Automotive Group acquired power system specialist MTU Detroit Diesel Australia late last year. To better reflect its new ownership, MTU-DDA will be rebranded as Penske Power Systems, Inc, from April 1, 2015.
