Potent Fuso Shogun sets new Aussie benchmark

The new model produces a potent 530hp, impressing onlookers at the 2025 Brisbane Truck Show

Fuso has broken its own record for the most powerful Japanese truck in Australia, with the introduction of an even more potent Shogun at the 2025 Brisbane Truck Show.

The new Shogun 530’s booming Mercedes-Benz 13-litre twin-turbo six-cylinder produces – as the truck’s moniker implies – an imposing 530hp, which is 20 more than its predecessor.

A heady 2600Nm of torque also lurks within the Shogun 530, which will go on sale in Australia by the end of 2025 with other updates such as a new cabin design, new LED headlights and the latest Daimler active safety suite, which features an impressive five radars.

The Shogun 530 has a 70-tonne Gross Combination Mass rating, up from 63 tonnes in the Shogun 510, while interior upgrades include a new electronic park brake and a remote key fob.

Daimler Truck Australia Pacific President and CEO, Daniel Whitehead, said the Shogun 530 demonstrates Fuso’s leadership.

“Our rivals dream of having a truck like the 510hp Shogun, so it gives us great pleasure to bring our customers the 530hp Shogun,” he said. “I have never heard anyone complain about having too much power; we know our customers are going to love this amazing truck.”

While the Shogun 530 was the centre of attention at the Fuso stand, the brand also featured the recently upgraded Canter range. The family has a new-look exterior design that incorporates brighter LED headlights and a fresh grille, while on the inside there’s a new multimedia touchscreen.

Meanwhile, the 4x4 Canter has low-range gearing and the ground clearance required to get the job done off the beaten track.

Fuso also presented a Euro 6 Canter and the all-electric eCanter, the latter with an innovative e-axle, which does away with a traditional driveshaft by replacing it with an electric motor inside the truck's rear axle.

Fuso is also displaying three new medium-duty Fighter Euro 6 tipper models with the option of an Allison automatic transmission.
