Cat Trucks will be playing a prominent role in the 2014 Brisbane Convoy for Kids charity drive, which will be held in the Queensland capital on Saturday, November 1.
Queensland Cat Trucks dealer Hastings Deering will be sponsoring several awards for the event, including Best Cat Truck and Best Night Lights, and will be providing prizes such as a Cat Merchandise Pack and a Cat Truck model, in addition to supplying hundreds of stubby holders and keyrings.
The dealer has also generously offered to cover the $55 registration fee for each Cat truck participating in the convoy, and will donate half of all the profits generated at its retail stall to Convoy for Kids.
Hastings Deering Cat Trucks Dealer Principal Gary Johnson said the event was a fabulous event and one the dealership is only too pleased to support.
"Convoy for Kids is a fabulous initiative of the road transport industry," he said.
"Like everyone else involved in this wonderful event, we're more than happy and proud to play our part in doing something for kids who need help."
Event organiser Leanne Dinning was thrilled to once again have the backing of Hastings Deering Cat Trucks.
"The support from everyone at Hastings Deering and Cat Trucks has been phenomenal," she said.
"Truly, their commitment to the success of this year's convoy has been fantastic and many kids will benefit from it."
This year's event is expected to raise up to $70,000 and attract around 400 trucks, plus many utes and other vehicles. Starting at 9.30am from Land Transport's depot at Heathwood, the convoy will follow a 78 kilometre route that will conclude at Redcliffe Showgrounds a few hours later.
Money raised from the event will assist the Redcliffe and Beenleigh Special Schools, Riding for the Disabled, and two-year-old Braxton from Dalby. Braxton, grandson of Shayne Coyne – a regular Convoy for Kids driver – has a brain tumour and needs to go to the US for specialist treatment.
