Qld tour highlights Hino 700 Series

Hino Australia is promoting the benefits of its 700 Series in Queensland with a PBS-approved tipper and dog demonstrator
A PBS-approved Hino 700 Series FS 2848 ProShift 16 Air tipper and dog is doing the rounds of Hino's Queensland dealer network to showcase its suitability as a heavy-duty option.
The demonstrator will also be appearing at a range of trade and agricultural shows throughout the state.
The truck recently gained approval under the Performance Based Standards scheme with the assistance of Queensland-based bodybuilders, Shephard Transport Equipment. Approved for Level II General Mass Limit (GML), the truck can run at a standard 50-tonne GCM with a quad dog at 19 metres, or at up to 54.8 tonnes on approved roads.
According to Hino Australia Regional Sales Manager for Queensland and the Northern Territory, Karl Hancox, the truck should pique the interest of buyers who wouldn't have readily associated Hino as a heavy-duty option.
"An increasing number of regional councils and other organisations around Australia are buying the 700 Series because its comfort and safety levels make it an ideal workplace environment, and for its rock-solid reliability," he said.
"But in general buyers of heavy-duty trucks aren't as familiar with Hino as our light-duty buyers are, and we'd like to show off the 700 Series to more of these potential customers."
Mr Hancox also said the rig would draw attention to the possibilities opened up by the PBS scheme.
"With over 70 per cent of PBS approval being focused on truck and dog applications, this is a great opportunity for the 700 Series," he said.
"It seems there is some confusion over what can be achieved under the PBS scheme, and we think our demonstrator can help clear this up while showing exactly what the Hino 700 Series is capable of."
Hino's 700 Series boasts numerous safety features, including an ECE-R29-rated cabin, anti-lock brakes and a Front Under-run Protection System (FUPS), while the trucks' comfort is enhanced by an ISRI air suspension driver's seat with integrated seat belt.
