S & J Australian Scrap Tyre Disposals recently expanded its fleet with two Isuzu FXL models, the pair joining another eight Isuzu trucks in the Ipswich-based company's fleet.
Specialising in the environmentally responsible disposal of tyres, the business started out with one truck in 1991 and has been a loyal Isuzu customer for the past decade.
The S & J team comprises Steve Hayes, his wife Jenny, son Joshua, 10 drivers and an administrative assistant.
Mr Hayes says his fleet – spanning Isuzu FVR, NPR, FVD, FVM and FXL models – are all heavy rigids, while most of them have two rear axles and are set up for towing.
"Our Isuzus have been designed so that we are able to tow additional trailers while only requiring a heavy rigid licence," he says.
"We can tow up to nine tonnes in our rear trailers."
With a territory spanning around 2.1 million square kilometres, the company's work sees its trucks service all of Queensland and a large portion of northern New South Wales.
Mr Hayes says he turned to Queensland dealer Brisbane Isuzu for several reasons.
"Price was the first point," he says.
"Isuzu offers value for money. Isuzu also provides a fantastic aftersales service. We always use the night shift at the Queensland dealerships for repairs and servicing as it means less down time for our fleet.
"If you want quality, reliability and backup service, buy Isuzu."
The increased emphasis on recycling in recent years has also seen an increase in the demand for the business's services.
"We service a range of different customers, from the 'mum and dad franchisees' to local councils and national tyre chains, such as the Beaurepaires Group," says Mr Hayes.
"We have some long-standing relationships with customers, some up to 20 years. We build these relationships by offering a competitive price, attention to detail and by providing a top service."
