Top of the bill will be a session led by Team Global Express’s Heather Bone and JET Charge’s Alex Bowler revealing key learnings to date from the company’s ambitious plan to transform its express parcel depot at Bungarribee in Western Sydney into a showcase of emissions-free transport.
At a cost of more than $44.3 million, The Depot Of The Future project will see nearly one-third of the depot’s fleet transition to electric trucks, powered by a total of 63 chargers, including 47 slow chargers and 16 fast chargers.
Bone, who has more than 25 years’ experience in transport and logistics in Australia and internationally, says TruckShowX is an important forum to bring industry together to support each other on the decarbonisation journey.
“I am really looking forward to TruckShowX and the fact that it will be bringing together all of the key players in decarbonising transport and logistics,” she said.
“We can’t decarbonise alone – as an industry we need to be working together and supporting each other in this journey and I think TruckShowX is focusing on a terrific topic for its first event.”
Bone will be joined by Alex Bowler of JET Charge, a market leading EV charging infrastructure and technology company in Australia and New Zealand and delivery partner to TGE for the Bungarribee initiative.
Bowler, who as Sector Lead for Bus and Heavy Vehicles at JET Charge leads some of the country’s largest and most complex bus and truck fleet electrification projects, says events like TruckShowX offer an amazing opportunity for industry to learn from each other and accelerate the decarbonisation of the logistics industry in Australia.
“It is an intensely exciting time to be working in the fleet electrification space and JET Charge has had the privilege of working on some of the largest projects in the country,” he said.
“TGE’s Depot Of The Future is one of the most exciting fleet transition projects in Australia and we’re really proud to have played our part in its delivery. This project will set a benchmark for how we as an industry approach the next generation of on-depot charging solutions.”
Also on the program will be Hyzon Managing Director for Australia, John Edgley, who will present an insightful case study on the trial of a hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (HFCEV) with Remondis Australia, one of the world’s largest recycling, service, and water companies.
Launched into service in late October, the waste collection truck is servicing the Wollongong and Shellharbour municipalities, operating from Remondis’s Wollongong facility in New South Wales.
Joining them on stage will be Ark Energy’s Daniel Krosch and Energys’ Ben Durrant, who will reveal details of their real-world hydrogen fuel cell project currently under construction in Townsville.
SunHQ will be one of the largest fully integrated, green hydrogen production and refuelling facilities in Australia and will power a fleet of five 140-tonne rated Hyzon Motors fuel cell electric trucks operating between the Sun Metals zinc refinery and the Port of Townsville.
Krosch says the landmark project is a great example of how to decarbonise Australia’s ultra-heavy transport sector.
What’s more, Alex Kelly of IKEA will share the homewares retailer’s experience rolling out EVs for last-mile customer deliveries; while Daimler Trucks’s Romesh Rodrigo will present case studies on EV solutions being implemented in several local FMCG operations.
TruckShowX will be held at Cape Schanck over May 13-14.
