The organiser of the 2014 International Truck, Trailer & Equipment Show reports that visitor numbers fell just short of 40,000, with around 39,500 trade and public show-goers passing through the gates over the four days of the event.
That figure represents an increase of around six per cent over the last ITTES held in 2012, while pre-show registrations were up a massive 83 per cent – 13,206 people registered online before the event opened this year as opposed to 7218 in 2012.
Held at Melbourne’s Royal Showgrounds over April 3 to 6, the 2014 instalment of the ITTES took in an expanded four-day format for the first time in an effort to attract drivers and fleet personnel and their families.
Show Director Clint Hendry said it was too early to tell if the four-day format would be retained.
“We are still waiting for all exhibitors to reach a verdict before determining if the Sunday session will happen again in 2016,” he said.
“Initial feedback has shown that the ITTES indeed has an affordable space advantage, enabling truck and trailer manufacturers to showcase complete product line-ups instead of having to focus on a single model, and allowing customers to see a large number of vehicles and equipment at the same time.”
Hendry said initial feedback has underlined the success of the 2014 ITTES.
“Above all, the 2014 Show demonstrated that industry confidence is slowly going up,” he said.
“Our survey is showing increased industry confidence backed up by solid orders taken at the show from all segments – truck manufacturers, trailer manufacturers and component suppliers – which is arguably the most important outcome. If a Show is a factor in promoting a change of course in business confidence, then it has truly proven its worth.”
The dates for the 2016 ITTES will be announced shortly.
