Record year for 'Benz vans

Mercedes-Benz Vans reports it set an all-time sales record in 2015

It was a bumper year for Mercedes-Benz Vans last year, with the division reporting it set a new sales record of 321,000 units.

The figure represents growth of nine per cent over the previous year's tally and takes Mercedes-Benz Vans past the milestone mark of 300,000 units for the first time.

The year also saw the Sprinter large van set a new record, its sales growing by four per cent to 194,200 units, while in the medium van market the Vito increased its sales by 23 per cent to tally 74,400 units.

Mercedes-Benz Vans predicts more success will follow, with the establishment of a Sprinter production facility in the US commencing this year and the rollout of a major modernisation program for both of the division's German production sites.

Volker Mornhinweg, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans, said the year's results bore testament to the dedication of the company's staff at all levels.

"The record sales figure achieved by Mercedes-Benz Vans shows that our global strategy is taking effect and that we have a very attractive product portfolio," he said.

"The record unit sales are thanks to the outstanding performance of our employees worldwide, who can be very proud of what they have achieved."
