Red Bull Frozen Rush takes flight

Some of the world's best desert racing Pro 4 truck drivers recently got a frosty reception at the opening round of the 2015 Red Bull Signature Series
It's hard enough piloting a 900hp Pro 4 race truck to victory in a typical off-road setting, but at the Red Bull Frozen Rush event – held on Saturday, January 10, in Newry, Maine, USA – the elements became just as dangerous as any four-wheeled foe.
The first event of the 2015 Red Bull Signature Series – a contest that sees the world's best extreme and action sports athletes lock horns at a wide variety of events throughout the year – the Frozen Rush saw Pro 4 racers trade the usual dust, mud and warm temperatures for a snow-blown course and plummeting mercury, with plenty of powder-packed thrills the end result.
The Sunday River Ski Resort served up plenty of challenges as the drivers blasted their way up the mountainside, their vehicles locked in a head-to-head duel their pilots wouldn't forget in a hurry.
At the end of the day it was young gun Bryce Menzies who triumphed, upstaging his vastly more experienced teammate – and 2014 Frozen Rush champion – Ricky Johnson.
Full coverage of the event will be shown on NBC on March 1, but for a chilly taste of what went down, here's a clip of highlights from the day. Sure is a world away from hauling freight through an Australian summer, eh?!?
