Registrations open for TruckShowX Drive Day Program

Registrations are now open for TruckShowX’s Drive Day Program which offers attendees the unique opportunity to experience an on-road test drive in the largest-ever collection of low- and zero-emissions trucks ever assembled in Australia

A total of sixteen vehicles will be available for test drives, including the latest models from Volvo, Kenworth, DAF, Fuso, Mercedes-Benz, Hino, Iveco, Foton, Hyzon, SEA Electric and Eurocold Revora.

The driving opportunities will take place on the incredible coastal roads around the event’s host venue, the RACV Cape Schanck Resort on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsular.

Attendees can book time in each vehicle in either 30-minute or 60-minute slots here. The 30-minute slot will include a short drive on predominantly flat and straight rural roads to the nearby Cape Schanck lighthouse and return; while the 60-minute slot will include a longer drive on the winding and hilly rural roads to the nearby township of Flinders and return.

Kenworth's hydrogen fuel cell T680

Leading the charge will be Volvo which will offer attendees the chance to test drive its heavy-duty FM Electric and medium-duty FL Electric trucks.

The FM Electric is powered by three electric motors with up to 490kW combined and boasts a range of up to 300km and a GCW of as much as 50 tonnes. It claims an AC charging time of 9.5 hours and a DC charging time of 2.5 hours.

The medium-duty FL Electric is driven by a single electric motor generating up to 130kW/175hp. It has a claimed range of up to 450km and a GCW of as much as 16.7 tonnes. Charging times range from 2.3 hours with DC (150kW) up to 16.8 hours with AC (22kW).

Fuso eCanter

PACCAR Australia, meanwhile, will offer up its hydrogen fuel cell T680 Kenworth prime mover, featuring a Toyota hydrogen fuel cell electric powertrain generating 470hp, with a claimed range of 560km and a 15-minute refuel time.

The Kenworth will feature alongside an all-electric DAF LF featuring a 260kW electric motor powered by a 282kWh battery pack.

Volvo and PACCAR will be joined by Daimler Truck Australia which will present its zero-emission Mercedes-Benz eActros and Fuso eCanter models, both as an exhibitor and drive day program participant.

The all-electric models feature class-leading technology and are the first electric trucks in Australia to feature e-axles, which save weight and boost efficiency.

Volvo FL Electric

Alongside these large OEMs will be LZEVs from relative newcomers including Foton, SEA Electric, Hyzon and Revora.

Buoyed by recent deals with Woolworths and, recently, Holcim, Foton Mobility Distribution will offer attendees the chance to get behind the wheel of its T5 electric truck, powered by 64/115kW engines and suited to urban and intra-city service.

Available for van body, tipper, and concrete agitator applications, it offers a GVM of 4500 or 6000kg and charging times of 1.5 hours (fast charge) and 7.5 hours (slow charge).

Flying the hydrogen fuel cell EV flag will be Hyzon, which will present TruckShowX attendees with the opportunity to drive its locally designed and built heavy rigid.

The electric DAF LF

Unveiled in 2023, the platform has a multitude of vehicle use cases and is currently under trial in NSW by Remondis Australia, one of the world’s largest recycling, service, and water companies.

Hino, meanwhile, will showcase its 300 Series Hybrid Tilt Tray and 300 Series Wide Cab Van Body; while Iveco will offer up its 4.5 eDaily for the drive day program as well as display its 4.2 eDaily at the expo.

Revora, meanwhile, will offer attendees the opportunity to drive its zero-emissions refrigerated trucks during the event.

Launched earlier this year as an offshoot of Brisbane-based refrigerated transport specialist Eurocold, the company’s zero-emissions refrigerated rental fleet is assembled in Brisbane by Australian technicians using key components (chassis, fridge, body, chargers etc) sourced from best-of-breed operators in Australia and internationally.

Hino 300 Hybrid Electric

Alongside the driving opportunities, TruckShowX will unpack the interconnected ‘ecosystem’ of equipment, infrastructure, services, regulations, policies, and people that must exist for them to work as a solution.

The two-day event will feature keynote presentations from global leaders in LZEV adoption, supported by practical case studies of local operators leading the decarbonisation effort.
