Renault announces 2018-spec Trafic Formula Edition

For the second consecutive year, Renault is releasing a Trafic to celebrate Formula 1

While the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix was run and won in March, the second coming of the Renault Trafic Formula Edition is scheduled for this month, with 125 examples landing at Renault dealers across the country.

Due to the success of the 2017 Trafic Formula Edition selling out quickly, Renault Australia has ordered additional supplies this year, with the 2018 Formula Edition available in Storm Grey or Jet Black, and in short or long wheelbase, all of which are powered by the twin-turbo 1.6-litre high-torque diesel engine.

As with Formula 1, Renault’s on-going development does not cease, so for the 2018 season, the Trafic Formula Edition gains sporty Daytime Running Lights integrated into the front bumper, to differentiate them from the 2017 spec vans.

“The Renault Trafic Formula Edition was extremely well received in 2017, and so we immediately contacted the factory to obtain a second batch for 2018,” said Lyndon Healey, LCV Product Manager for Renault.

“Trafic has been a stellar success for Renault since its launch in 2015, with many drivers enthused by its zesty driving experience. It is well equipped, comfortable and light on fuel, ticking all the boxes for hard working tradies, couriers, and small business owners across a very broad range of enterprises,” he said.

“Renault Trafic has been growing its sales and market share over the past three years and the arrival of the Formula Edition will add even more sparkle to a well-polished diamond,” he said.

As before, the exterior pack for the Formula Edition comprises a body coloured front bumper, rear light surrounds and door rail, black-painted 17-inch ‘Cyclade’ alloy wheels with yellow centre caps, a unique black Renault diamond bonnet badge, yellow upper and lower grille inserts, yellow fog lamp surrounds, ‘Formula Edition’ side stripes and an anti-theft spare wheel holder. New for 2018 are the LED DRLs.

Inside, there is dark Java cloth upholstery with a heated driver’s seat, media navigation system with seven-inch touchscreen, premium dashboard layout with storage compartment, chrome instrument panel surround, gloss black side air vent surrounds, leather covered gear selector with chrome-plated trim, chrome-plated speaker surround, Formula Edition floor mats, the useful wide-view mirror, deadlocking security system and LED ceiling lights.

The Renault Trafic Formula Edition comes to market at a Manufacturer’s List Price (MLP) of $41,990 for the twin turbo short wheelbase model, while the long wheelbase version is priced from $43,490.
