Renault LCVs on a charge

French maker's worldwide LCV sales up 12.4 per cent

Renault Group has published its worldwide sales figures for 2015, the data revealing its light commercial vehicle range enjoyed significant success last year.

Worldwide sales of Renault Group LCVs, including those of its Romanian Dacia subsidiary, totalled 387,089 units, the figure equating with growth of 12.4 per cent over the previous year.

In Renault's main European market LCV sales were up 13.0 per cent to total 347,649 units, making the French manufacturer the top-selling LCV brand for the 18th consecutive year.

Renault also sold 4325 examples of its electric LCV, the Kangoo Z.E., in 2015 – making it the best-selling electric LCV in Europe with a market share of 42.6 per cent of the full-electric LCV segment.

The brand's LCV growth surpassed that of its passenger car division significantly in 2015. While Renault Group sold 2,414,503 passenger cars last year, the figure equated with more modest growth of 2.0 per cent, in its third consecutive year of growth.

As for its prospects in 2016, the company remains bullish. Renault says it expects an acceleration in sales growth worldwide and an increase in sales in all five key regions.
