Rose's Liquid Waste turns to Isuzu

A Victorian liquid waste specialist has upgraded to an Isuzu FVD 1000 to service its private clients' septic and waste water treatment systems
When Malcolm Tyquin needed to upgrade his liquid waste business's truck, he says his existing Isuzu FVD 950 guided his purchasing decision.
A 1997 model, Mr Tyquin gained the FVD when he purchased Rose's Liquid Waste some six years ago, but it was time for a new model.
"It still is a great truck," he says.
"It’s done 775,000 kilometres and the engine hasn’t ever been touched. It doesn’t burn a drop of oil and it’s just so reliable – you hit the key and away you go, every day."
Based in Kyneton, 85km north of Melbourne, Mr Tyquin says he covers around 1200 kilometres per week as he goes about servicing the septic tanks and waste water treatments plants of private clients dotted in and around the Macedon Ranges. His work also sees him handling commercial grease traps, dealing with car washes, and carting waste water for General Water Australia.
His experience with the FVD prompted him to approach Bendigo Isuzu dealership Poyser Trucks when the time came to purchase a new model. The new truck had to have the FVD's capabilities but a few more features, and he soon settled on Isuzu's FVD 1000.
"I did have a look at a couple of other brands but I ended up going straight back to Isuzu for the FVD 1000," he says.
My Tyquin says the new model, which he's decked out with some professional signwriting, has rapidly proven its worth, being both capable and comfortable.
"The cab is independently sprung and with the airbag suspension you don’t feel as tired at the end of the day," he says.
"The doors also open to right angles so it’s a lot easier to get in and out of – it’s just much more user friendly than other trucks and far better-looking, I think!"
Mr Tyquin had the truck's wheelbase shortened by 650mm for enhanced manoeuvrability in tight confines and he added an Isuzu bullbar with tow hitch.
"We’re out in the country all the time and sometimes in winter you can get yourself stuck; this way we know we can get pulled out safely and back on the road with less time wasted," he says.
Now with 2500km on its clock, Mr Tyquin says his FVD 1000 is getting noticed wherever it goes.
"Presentation is a big thing these days and we’ve already had so many comments on the new truck," he says.
"Everyone has said how professional and smart it looks, which is going to help our business no end. The truck is like a mobile billboard and when we drive through town, people notice."
