Registration is now open for the 2018 ALC & ATA Supply Chain Safety & Compliance Summit, which will be held at the Melbourne Park Function Centre, Melbourne, over September 5-6.
The programme will see delegates brought up to speed on the imminent changes to the Heavy Vehicle National Law and in particular to the Chain of Responsibility framework, which will see a raft of updates rolled out from October 1.
The conference will also cover the truck industry's new Registered Industry Code of Practice, also known as the Master Code, which has been developed by the Australian Logistics Council and the Australian Trucking Association over the last 12 months.
The Master Code will soon be published on the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator's website, and is freely available for any operator to adopt (subject to its terms of use).
The Master Code will translate the requirements of the HVNL into a framework of known risk types, risk assessment information, and risk controls, for parties with CoR obligations to implement in their operations.
The ATA says it will help to provide clarity for industry, for investigators, and for courts regarding the known risks around road transport operations, and the best-practice response measures that may be installed to minimise those risks.
The summit will feature both policy discussions and workshops and is held each year to raise awareness about Chain of Responsibility, and provide practical advice about steps industry participants should take to ensure high levels of safety and compliance within their own organisation.
The Summit will also discuss a range of policy issues, including those raised in ALC's position paper, Improving Heavy Vehicle Safety the Australian Way, released in April 2018.
Delegate registration costs $900 ($800 for ALC and ATA members and $700 for TruckSafe members) – click here for more information.
