Dad’s Pool Shop is a Sunshine Coast business that provides tradies and private customers with everything required for building and maintaining pools.
Its owner, George Dubrava, has a strong focus on safety in his business, so he says it makes sense that he chose the Fuso Canter when it came to replace an ageing truck that had seen better days.
The Fuso Canter is currently the only light truck available in Australia equipped with Safety Pack, a suite of safety gear including AEB, as well as a lane departure warning system and electronic stability control.
Safety Pack is standard on all Canters, except for the 4x4 model, while a reversing camera is standard across the Canter range.

The Canter’s AEB system uses a combination of radar and camera technology to detect potential collisions and automatically brake. It can even detect pedestrians, we’re told.
Mr Dubrava says that he was not aware AEB was available on a light truck when he decided to look at buying a Canter following a positive experience his father had with a Fuso.
“Safety is very important in my industry, so it makes sense for me to operate the safest small truck available,” Mr Dubrava says.
“Thankfully, I haven’t needed the help of this technology yet, but it is reassuring to know that it’s there in background,” he adds.
Mr Dubrava chose a Canter 515 City Cab model with a Built Ready trade pack, opting for the slim model that fits perfectly down tight driveways and neatly in his garage.
Like his father, he was also attracted by the generous Fuso warranty that covers the truck for five-years or 200,000km, whichever comes first.
For Mr Dubrava, who started his Maroochydore-based business in 2012, the Canter is certainly is a step up from his old truck.
“It’s a lot nicer to drive, that is for sure. The Canter has all the mod-cons and is really more like a car than a truck,” he says.
“It certainly does everything that I need it to, so that I can get on and grow my business,” Mr Dubrava concluded.
