Renault is making some serious progress in the light commercial vehicle scene in Australia, with the latest sales data from the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries showing the French maker sold 1491 examples of its LCVs over the first half of 2014 – an increase of 63 per cent over the corresponding 2013 period.
The marque delivered 328 new Kangoo small LCVs (an increase of 98.8 per cent), 722 new Trafic medium LCVs (an increase of 60.4 per cent) and 441 new Master van and cab/chassis models (an increase of 47 per cent).
On top of that, the 490 LCVs delivered by Renault in the month of June also set a sales record for the company.
Renault's sales have been spurred on by its refreshed Kangoo family, which was recently joined by the new Kangoo Maxi Crew five-seater (pictured).
According to Lyndon Healey, Model Line Manager for Renault LCV, the month of June has a broken a number of records.
"June 2014 will go down as a milestone in the history of Renault light commercial vehicle sales in Australia," he said.
"It is the first time we have had three-figure deliveries for each of our model lines in one month and with 490 deliveries in total, it is our biggest ever month of sales as well.
"In fact, it’s more than our entire sales of LCVs in 2010, underlining the significant yet sustainable growth we have achieved in a short time.
Healey says there's more to come.
"We are confident that as the Renault message continues to feed out into the market our deliveries will continue to increase," he says.
"And we have plenty more new product in the pipeline."
