Cab-over trucks like those of the Scania Euro 5 range present inherent issues in providing the levels of occupant protection afforded by their conventional siblings. Now, Australian bulbar manufacturer King Bars has a solution, developing its 'Pacific' range of bullbars specifically for Scania cab-over models.
Using a unique mounting system and upgraded aluminium sections the Pacific range is said to provide more strength than existing products on the market. Designed to handle a 'significant impact', the Pacific bulbar range utilises the Scania's existing tow points for mounting providing maximum rigidity. The bar is manufactured from high strength extruded aluminium sections.
The three-model Pacific range – Metro, Single Road Train and Double Road Train – is adaptive cruise control compatible, and offered with a steel backing channel, 100mm-wide uprights, 89mm-diameter cross tubes and a 36mm removable tow pin. All meet ADR approval and are FUPS (front under-run protection system) equipped, while also including LED indictor/markers.
King Bars says the design of Pacific bullbar range truly caters for the driver needs with the Metro bullbar providing access to the daily fluid checks via the bonnet without having to lower the bullbar. The Road Train bullbars have raised centre posts to provide extra protection and have the added advantage of allowing a secure method of mounting Road Train, Long Vehicle or Oversize signs to the front of the bullbar.
"Our business is to provide heavy duty trucks with the best protection possible, and the new Scania range of bullbars certainly meets this requirement," said King Bars sales manager, Craig MacPherson.
"More and more of our customers are opting for cab-over trucks and that is why we are developing a range of bullbars that offers superior protection for this style of truck.
"We see the Pacific range as a product that can potentially save lives and prevent costly repairs to trucks," he concluded.
