Scania Australia to launch finance arm

Scania Australia announced this week that in the first quarter of 2016 it will be launching Scania Financial Services Australia.

The finance arm will be headed up by Peter Taylor (pictured), who has a long history with Scania and was formerly Managing Director of Scania Finance UK.

Speaking at a media event on the Gold Coast on Tuesday (December 1), Mr Taylor said the company would be offering a full suite of financial services to customers.

"The advantage we have is that we can sit down with our Scania customers and structure the finance packages to suit their specific needs," he said.

Mr Taylor said that initially the financial services would be exclusively for Scania customers.

"We want to work with our customers and offer them something that the banks can't," he said.

Mr Taylor added that the finance was independent from banks.

"All funds will be coming from Scania," he said.

In a second phase, Scania will also be offering its own brand of insurance.

"We want to be a one-stop shop," Mr Taylor said.

"We want to offer our customers a complete package of finance and insurance when they purchase a truck from us."
