Taking pride of place on the Scania stand at this year's Brisbane Truck Show will be the first examples of the Swedish manufacturer's V8 range with Euro 6 compliance.
The show, which will be held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre over May 14-17, will see a Euro 6 example of Scania's flagship R 730 V8 on display, alongside a B-double-specification R 580 V8 and a number of V6-powered Euro 6 models.
Scania Australia has taken a leading role in this country in its rollout of Euro 6 product: logistics firm TNT took delivery of its first Euro 6 models – G 450 prime movers – late last year, while a fleet of 77 Euro 6 Scania buses are nearing the end of their delivery schedule to ACTION (ACT Internal Omnibus Network) in Canberra.
In a proactive show of force, every Scania vehicle on display at the Brisbane Truck Show will be Euro 6 compliant – even though a date for the mandate of Euro 6 in this country is yet to materialise.
The Scania display kicks off with the intra-state distribution-oriented G 450, accompanied by the more powerful line-haul R 490 (pictured) with its more spacious Highline cab. The R 580 V8 and R 730 V8 Euro 6 flagships will join these six-cylinder trucks.
Scania Brand and Communications Manager, Ron Szulc, says word is starting to spread of the benefits of its cutting-edge Euro 6 products.
"There has been strong interest from customers and prospective customers in the Scania Euro 6 solution given its environmental benefits and potential fuel efficiency improvements," he says.
"The Scania Euro 6 solution can enhance and augment a customers' existing carbon footprint reduction strategies."
Scania Australia says its Brisbane stand will also place an emphasis on its driver training and coaching programs, along with the many systems it offers to enhance a customer's bottom line.
"Our Show focus will be on our leadership in technology, environmental protection, CO2 and fuel reduction, and improved sustainable operator profitability," says Mr Szulc.
