Scania Australia has announced that the company has decided not to attend the 2021 Brisbane Truck Show in May. A spokesman for the Swedish manufacturer has said that the Show “does not fit in with our plans for next year”.
Those plans would no doubt include the launch of the recently-announced update of the V8 engine which gives Scania a benchmark-setting 770hp.
Scania Australia is the second major truck company to announce that it is not attending the Brisbane Truck Show. In early September, Volvo Group Australia announced that it would not be attending the Show.
While the Volvo and Scania banners will not be seen in Brisbane in 2021, other companies have said that they are fully intending to display their wares at the Show.
Spokesperson for PACCAR (Kenworth and DAF), Kate Sykes said that the company was already gearing up for the Brisbane Truck Show: “Right now, we’re picking out the colours for our Show trucks,” Ms Sykes told Trucksales.
“We have some things that we’re dying to show our customers at the Show,” she added.
A Daimler Trucks Australia spokesman said that their three brands, Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner and Fuso will be well represented at the Show, and leading Japanese brands Hino and Isuzu have indicated that they will also be there.
The Brisbane Truck Show will be running from Thursday May 13 to Sunday May 16, 2021.
