The Snowy River Shire Council in southern New South Wales recently expanded its truck fleet with the addition of Hino 700 Series model (pictured, right), the purchase going ahead following the conclusion of a stringent tender process.
The new FS 2848 700 Series is equipped with an 11 cubic metre tipping body and can accept a slip-on 11,000-litre water tank. It joins a 16-strong fleet that includes a Hino Ranger Pro with Flocon road patching unit, a 4x4 Ranger with removable snow plough, and several Hino 300 Series light duty models.
The new 700 Series will join the Ranger Pro in building and maintaining the shire's network of sealed and unsealed roads, which are utilised by around three million visitors annually.
According to Mark McGufficke, Snowy River Shire Plant Superintendent, the 700 Series shone for its value, its mile-eating ability and its rugged nature.
"The new truck was selected from tenders through Local Government Procurement, and the value for money with the Hino 700 Series really stood out," he said.
"They can be operating in temperatures ranging from -10 to -15 degrees Celsius, right up to 35 degrees plus.
"The distance travelled varies but each truck can cover up to 1000 kilometres per day."
The Hino FS 2848 700 Series comes with a fully air adjustable ISRI driver's seat with integrated seat-mounted seatbelt, along with safety features such as a driver's SRS airbag and anti-lock brakes.
Mr McGufficke said the council was thoroughly satisfied with the assistance and backup offered by its Hino dealer.
"Bryce, Matt and their staff at Wagga Motors cannot be faulted on their first class service," he said.
