Daimler Truck Group has announced it achieved unit sales growth of 14.2 per cent last year compared to 2021, reaching a total of 520,291 units.
The solid performance was realised in Daimler Truck’s first year as a separate commercial entity, after it split from the Mercedes-Benz passenger car and van division at the end of 2021, and while contending with ongoing bottlenecks in the automotive supply chain.
Breaking the figure down into the truck business’s major segments, unit sales for Mercedes-Benz Trucks were up by 17.7% (166,369), while Daimler Buses were up 28.3% (24,041). The Trucks North America segment was up by 15.2% (186,779), and Trucks Asia was up by 8.8% (155,967).

Sustained growth for Daimler
“We have concluded our first year as an independent company with an expected strong sales result underlining our strong market position,” said Martin Daum, CEO of Daimler Truck Holding AG. “Despite the challenging macro-economic situation in 2022, all our segments could increase the sales of trucks and buses. This is a joint success of the entire Daimler Truck team.”
Closer to home, here in Australia Daimler Trucks accounted for 6894 new registrations across its Mercedes-Benz, Fuso and Freightliner brands, which was down slightly (by 0.6%) over its 2021 tally. Fuso’s 5021 new registrations was up 5.3%, Mercedes-Benz’s 1392 units was down 19.5%, and Freightliner’s 481 units was up 9.6% over the previous year.
