Stadium Super Trucks return

Following the category's Australian debut last March, Stadium Super Trucks are set to return to Oz for a two-round series

They made a big impact – pun intended – at their Australian premiere at the Clipsal 500 V8 Supercar event in March, and now Robby Gordon's high-flying Stadium Super Trucks are back, with organisers announcing a special two-round Australian series to play out in October.

Stadium Super Trucks are purpose-built, 600hp machines capable of speeds in excess of 200km/h, while their long-travel suspensions allows them to jump almost 10 metres high and much further than that in distance.

A crowd favourite in their native home of America, the high-speed, high-action class delighted fans at the Clipsal 500 – which is why organisers have decided to head back to our shores once more.

The two-round series will see street/ramp races held at the Castrol Gold Coast 600 at Surfers Paradise over October 23-25, with a stand-alone event to be held at Sydney's Spotless Stadium, Sydney Showgrounds, on October 31.

The series of races will include 10 trucks from Robby Gordon's Charlotte-based stable, with a mixture of American and Australian drivers to be confirmed in coming weeks.

Gordon (pictured) said Stadium Super Trucks had struck a chord with Australia's motorsport fans.

"We had a hell of a time at the Clipsal 500 in March and we were delighted with the way the Aussie fans embraced our spectacular trucks," he said.

"We have no shortage of US or Australian drivers wanting to be involved in this two-event series so the quality is going to be outstanding.

"While the Australian fans have seen how spectacular our trucks can be on the ramps on a street track, they are in for a special treat with our stand-alone stadium event at Spotless Stadium, Sydney Showgrounds. It's going to be crazy."

The Sydney fixture will also be supported by a range of action sports support events.

Tickets for the Stadium Super Trucks Sydney event will go on sale on Thursday, August 13, from 9.00am. Tickets are available through ticketek.com.au, and range in price from $59 to $129.
