India's Tata Motors has seized control of the Iveco Group, to form the fourth largest commercial vehicle entity in the world.
India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, Tata Motors Limited, announced the final stages of the takeover on October 30, after the multi-billion dollar deal was first announced in late-2025.

Tata Motors' acquisition of the Italian commercial vehicle giant, creates a new global heavyweight in the truck and bus sector, with combined annual sales of over 540,000 units and revenues of €22 billion (approximately A$35 billion).
The deal brings together 27 manufacturing sites, 25 R&D centres, approximately 9300 sales and service centres and more than 73,000 employees, across more than 130 countries.
"Our complementary portfolios, capabilities and geographic strengths provide a strong foundation for growth, while ensuring continuity from day one for customers, dealers and partners," Tata Motors MD & CEO, Girish Wagh, said.
"Our ambition is to build a stronger enterprise by combining our strengths in engineering, new age technologies, sourcing, distribution and customer networks. We will accelerate innovation, broaden our reach and bring advanced solutions to customers faster and more competitively.”

Iveco Group CEO, Olof Persson, said the takeover is an "opportunity to build on everything Iveco Group has achieved, unlock new possibilities with Tata Motors and create an even stronger future”.
Tata Motors’ commercial vehicle range spans sub-1-tonne to 55-tonne and 10-to 51-seater trucks and buses, while Iveco builds light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles and city and intercity buses.
The official announcement puts into play Tata Motors’ ambition to expand beyond its dominant Indian market, particularly in Europe. Under the new arrangement, Iveco Group will remain headquartered in Turin, Italy, "with its brands, teams and industrial footprint retaining their distinct identities".
