Indian automotive behemoth Tata Motors is returning to Russia, with the manufacturer recently announcing the appointment of TML Truck Rus as the official Russian distributor of its light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles.
Tata Motors had previously entered the Russian market in late 2008, but its efforts were then thwarted by the ravaging effects of the Global Financial Crisis.
Tata Motors says TML Truck Rus will establish a network throughout Russia over the next five years, with sole dealerships in Moscow and Saint Petersburg, a spare parts facility, and 60 further outlets in key areas.
The announcement was made at signing ceremony for the deal in Kazan, Republic of Tartarstan, where TML Truck Rus has its headquarters.
There Mr R T Wasan (pictured, left), Head – International Business (Commercial Vehicles), Tata Motors Limited, recently formalised the agreement with Mr Eduard Kasakin (pictured, right), General Director of TML Truck Rus.
Mr Wasan said the tie-up is an important milestone in Tata Motors' progress.
"As a leading truck and bus manufacturer worldwide, we at Tata Motors are proud to announce the appointment of TML Truck Rus as a significant step towards establishing the Tata Motors name in Russia," he said.
"Though this signing we are committing to a strong, long-term partnership with all our customers in Russia with a range of world-class quality products from the Tata Motors portfolio, and backed by premium quality service and parts support from TML Truck Rus."
