Safety-critical truck maintenance and compliance will be thrust into the spotlight at the 2014 PACCAR and Dealer Technical & Maintenance Conference (TMC), which will be held in late October at the Kangan Institute's Automotive Centre of Excellence in Melbourne.
Presented by the Australian Trucking Association and the Australian Road Transport Suppliers' Association, the conference will comprise four program streams, with technical sessions, product training workshops and compliance forums allowing delegates to tailor the training and advice to best suit their business's needs.
The conference will also host the Castrol Vecton Awards Dinner, which will see the presentation of the 2014 Craig Roseneder Memorial Awards and the Castrol Vecton Industry Achievement Award.
According to the Chief Executive of the ATA, Stuart St Clair, the conference will give delegates all the knowledge and tools they need to address their business's safety and compliance issues.
"We know there are some fleets that attract the attention of the authorities and some fleets that get through their inspections with minimal fuss," he said.
"At TMC 2014, attendees will discuss what inspectors are looking for in a heavy vehicle and how to deal with compliance under the NHVR.
"The TMC 2014 program puts safety-critical maintenance first, with sessions to help businesses get the most out of their tyres, brakes, suspension and couplings.
"As well as obvious safety and regulatory benefits, there are massive economic advantages for businesses that can avoid vehicle downtime and reduce component wear through an effective maintenance program."
Mr St Clair said the cost of attending the conference has been reduced to $495 per delegate – the same price as a decade ago.
"From the youngest apprentice to the most senior workshop manager, TMC 2014 can provide the information and training to help delegates get better results from their fleet – better safety outcomes, better equipment life and a better bottom line."
The conference will be held from October 27-29 at Kangan Institute's Automotive Centre of Excellence. The venue is located in Melbourne's Docklands precinct, adjacent to the city's CBD.
Registration is still open for the 2014 PACCAR and Dealer TMC – see www.truck.net.au/tmc for more information.
