This is partly attributed to a reduction in rolling resistance through its unique compound and construction techniques, including the use of Hankook’s Innovative Mixing System that minimises the oxidation of polymer chains and has a higher dispersion of carbon black that strengthens the bond between the rubber and carbon to ensure lower operating temperatures for improved mileage.

The tread pattern itself has been designed to contribute to increased fuel efficiency with wide blocks, which also enhance the overall rigidity for better handling and precision in the AH 51 steer tyre.

Both the steer and drive tyres feature Hankook’s innovative self-generating tread design with hidden grooves which appear as the tyre wears down, creating new water channels and grip surfaces that ensure the tyres provide maximum wet weather grip across the life of the tread.

The AH51 steer tyre has Hankook’s innovative Tread Wear Equaliser Stepper (T.W.E.S) technology that has small step-shaped tread blocks in the grooves to prevent stones from being trapped, providing additional security against punctures while also improving tyre life.

Using the latest in artificial intelligence technology in its design, the Smart Flex tyres incorporate three-dimensional sipes on the block edges that reduce irregular tread wear which, in turn, improves traction and enhances fuel efficiency.

Uniquely, all Hankook Smart Flex AH51 and DH51 tyres are constructed using a robust carcass design with Stiffness Control Contour Theory that reduces profile deformation under load for better durability, plus have SmartLife technology with additional regrooved tread rubber to deliver a second tyre life and third retread life, further improving their cost benefit.
