Trans-Help gives back to Iveco

Trans-Help Foundation and Iveco Trucks Australia recently partnered for a charity day to raise health awareness at Iveco's Melbourne HQ
Trans-Help Foundation has been supported by Iveco Trucks Australia for the past seven years, so the charity was only too happy to stop by Iveco's head office and manufacturing facility in Melbourne recently to take part in a charity day and show Iveco staff how it promotes workplace health for transport drivers and transport industry office staff.
With an AFL football theme that dovetailed with the 2014 AFL Grand Final, the day saw Trans-Help Foundation staff carry out numerous health checks for Iveco staff and raise hundreds of dollars via gold coin donations.
In addition to promoting health in the transport industry, Trans-Help Foundation also provides support to drivers – and their families – who have suffered a road trauma or other issue that can adversely affect their safety on the road.
Over the last seven years Iveco Trucks Australia has donated four of its Daily light commercial vehicles to Trans-Help Foundation, which the charity utilise as mobile health units.
"The vans enable our organisation to visit transport companies to conduct health checks not just for the drivers, but also the mechanics and office staff that the drivers depend on to make sure their load and truck are safe every time they go on the road," said Dianne Carroll, CEO of Trans-Help Foundation.
"With our visit to Iveco we wanted to thank the company for its generous support with the four vans and the refurbishment of our first unit. This also gave us the opportunity to show their staff what we do."
Trans-Help Foundation carried out a total of 47 health checks over four hours at Iveco, testing for blood pressure, pulse and blood sugar levels – all tell-tale indicators of work-related stress.
Iveco's Brand Leader, Stavros Yallouridis, said the day showcased the values of the organisation's work.
"We are honoured to be able to contribute directly to the health and wellbeing of the transport industry with the donation of the Daily vans and their refurbishment and we will continue to support the Foundation," he said.
The funds raised on the day by Iveco staff on the day were duly matched by Iveco itself.
