Transport Hall of Fame reunion

The National Road Transport Hall Of Fame celebrates those who keep Australia moving
From August 25 to 29, Australia’s road transport community gathered in Alice Springs to celebrate the 21st annual National Road Transport Hall of Fame Reunion.
More than 450 people from around the nation made the pilgrimage to the Red Centre to acknowledge the often unnoticed heroes who keep Australia moving.
At the reunion, 69 individuals were inducted into the coveted Shell Rimula Wall of Fame and father and son duo Gary Radford OAM and Stephen Radford OAM were named as the 2016 Icons of the Industry for their significant contributions to the road transport industry in Australia.
Over the course of the four-day event, reunion goers enjoyed the Transport Women Australia Breakfast at Stuart’s Bush Kitchen, the annual Cummins Cup race meeting, and an entertaining performance from the Drum Atweme group before the Shell Rimula Inductee Gala Dinner.
Liz Martin, Chief Executive Officer of the National Road Transport Hall of Fame, was proud of the support shown by the road transport community over the weekend.
“The reunion is a wonderful opportunity for drivers from all over Australia to come together, support the award winners and inductees, and celebrate a lifetime of dedication to the trucking industry,” Liz said.
“It’s an extremely emotional ceremony as we acknowledge the trials and tribulations each driver has faced on the road, sharing their stories with family, friends and peers, and together with Shell Rimula, we wholeheartedly thank them for their ongoing service over their lifetimes.”
Max Lane, Marketing Manager of Shell Lubricants, Viva Energy Australia Ltd, said: “Acknowledging these unsung heroes is a significant and highly regarded honour within the transport community that Shell Rimula is extremely proud to support for the sixteenth year.”
“This Hall of Fame reunion is an important industry event that gives us the opportunity to applaud Australia’s hard working road transport community who play an important role in keeping this country moving.”
For over 100 years Shell, and now Viva Energy Australia (Shell Licensee), has shown ongoing support to the longevity of the road transport community in Australia, delivering innovative, reliable fuel, Shell card and lubricant solutions to road transport operators.
