Trucking in miniature

Honda's concept N-Truck adds a commercial-vehicle slant to Japan's ultra-small kei car category

We don't know if we're meant to fuel it or gently rock it to sleep, but Honda's recently unveiled concept vehicle, the N-Truck, has possibly added a word to the trucking lexicon no self-respecting truckie ever thought possible: cute.

It's based on the Honda N-Box that was released a few years ago, and is essentially a kei-class pickup. In that sense it's actually a light commercial vehicle – very light, we're betting – just without the main LCV benefits, namely space, practicality and payload.

It's pictured here hooked up to Honda's N-Camp trailer, ahead of its public debut at the 2015 Japan Camping Car Show (February 13-16).

The kei class of minicars is popular in Japan, where densely crowded urban centres demand ultra-compact transport solutions. Don't expect to see one here anytime soon but, if you ever do, give it a pat on the head for us…
