A lot has happened in the transport industry over the past 12 months. We’ve had numerous new truck launches, updates and announcements, some of which are most certainly worthy of the 2024 trucksales Innovation Award and 2024 trucksales Safety Award.
So let’s recap on the awards and what they’re all about.
The trucksales Safety and Innovation Awards are not specifically limited to trucks but are open to all aspects of the industry including trailers, tyres, electronics and even legislation.
Safety is at the forefront of the industry and trucksales believes that any advancement in this area is a positive step forward.
Clearly, the 2024 trucksales Safety Award focuses on safety, but the award will not necessarily go to the company or person with the most expensive or advanced safety item – it could go to a simple idea that broadly makes trucking safer.
Last year, the trucksales Safety Award was taken out by Scania Australia for the safety program it rolled out for the local arrival of its electric trucks.

Scania has shown incredible foresight by preparing all levels of its business to deal safely with battery electric vehicle (BEV) systems and components, which are to be a part of its future product line-up.
Extensive training was given to all levels of staff who are going to be in contact with the new electric vehicles and thus Scania was future-proofing its entire workforce by educating them in the safe ways to work on and around electric vehicles.
To be eligible for the 2024 trucksales Safety Award, the winning technology or safety advancement must available or rolled out before December 31, 2023.
The 2024 trucksales Innovation Award will acknowledge key advancements that benefit the industry and its stakeholders. All aspects of innovation will be considered when judging this award and, like the trucksales Safety Award, may be won by a concept or pre-production innovation.

Last year’s winner was Cummins for its fuel-agnostic engines. Cummins was our judges’ unanimous choice for the 2023 trucksales Innovation Award. As we said at the time: “The global engine maker’s fuel-agnostic engine program promises to make it easy for truck makers to suit combustion engines to different countries’ fuel preferences.
“The global heavyweight is investing billions in electric vehicle developments, because the company is in the power business and will supply whatever technology the market demands. However, Cummins is also investing heaps in improving sustainability and reducing the emissions of combustion engines.”
We will be announcing the short-listed finalists of the trucksales Awards before the end of the year, and the winners of the 2024 trucksales Safety Award and 2024 trucksales Innovation Award will be announced in January.
