UD Trucks take off at Melbourne Airport

Border Express has taken delivery of seven new GW 26 420 prime movers

National transport and distribution company, Border Express, has purchased seven new GW 26 420 prime movers which will be based out of its Melbourne Airport site.

The latest purchase continues the relationship between UD Trucks and Border Express which first began in 2010. Nationally, Border Express now has more than 25 UD trucks running daily between the major capitals as well interconnecting services into growth hubs such as the Gold Coast, Newcastle, Wollongong, Geelong and Ballarat.

The GW 26 420 cabin features a multi-display monitor and telematics system, and the powertrain has an automated manual transmission which is claimed to improve fuel economy, reduces emissions and lessen driver fatigue. For more information on the GW 26 420, click here.

“Our drivers get in and out of their trucks up to 15 times a day and travel at least 250km,” said Border Express state operations manager, Michael Beech. “We needed something that was suited for local work, could handle industrial sites, that was reliable, cost-effective and that people would want to drive.

“Last week I saw one of our subcontractors return to the depot after an 11-hour shift. He looked fresh – that’s exactly what we want the trucks to be able to do for our drivers.”
