Volvo FH Electric wins top truck trophy

Volvo Trucks’ heavy-duty electric line-up has been selected as the 2026 International Truck of the Year - the second time the emissions free range has picked up the prestigious award.

It's also the company's eighth win in the International Truck of the Year awards, after previously being recognised in 2024 (Volvo FH Electric), 2014 (Volvo FH), 2000 (Volvo FH Series), 1994 (Volvo FH Series), 1986 (Volvo FL Series), 1984 (Volvo F10) and 1979 (Volvo F7).

Volvo Trucks said the latest win is recognition of electric transport as a viable option for more applications
than ever before. The Volvo FH Electric offers a driving range of up to 400km, depending on conditions.

The ITOY jury praised the way Volvo has developed its electric portfolio beyond a single vehicle or application.

“The Volvo Trucks winning range represents a major evolution of their battery-electric heavy-duty offering," said International Truck of the Year Chairman, Florian Engel.

"With the new electric range, the company demonstrates how quickly battery-electric heavy-duty transport is moving from individual applications towards a comprehensive transport solution.”

Volvo Trucks Australia's Vice President Sales and Marketing, Tom Chapman, said he was delighted to see once again that Volvo Trucks has been awarded for progress and innovation in electromobility.

“The recently launched second generation represents a major step forward in electric transport and it’s encouraging to see that progress recognised by the ITOY jury.”

Since 2019, Volvo said 7000 of its electric trucks have clocked up 500 million kilometres worldwide. The company has close to 2000 customers in more than 50 countries that use Volvo electric trucks in their daily operations.
