The new Volvo FH has now ‘swept the board‘ at all the UK and Irish major transport awards held during 2013.
First up was Northern Ireland's top transport journal Export & Freight's Transport Awards ceremony held in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Here, to the delight of Retail Development Director, Gerardo Montoya, who collected the trophy on behalf of Volvo Trucks and the dealer network, the new FH took out the ‘Irish Fleet Truck of the Year 2013' award.
This was just the start of a run of awards bagged by Volvo Trucks for the new FH range.
Next was the Republic of Ireland's major transport title Fleet Transport, which chose the Volvo FH to receive the prestigious ‘Irish Truck of the Year 2014' award. The trophy was presented to Volvo Trucks by the Irish Taoiseach, Enda Kenny at a glittering ceremony in Dublin.
This was followed by the GreenFleet ‘Large Goods Vehicle Manufacturer of the Year' award which Volvo Trucks won for the sixth year. The awards are sponsored by GreenFleet magazine and are designed to recognise environmentally conscious transport and environmentally friendly vehicle fleet management. The award, which was won against stiff opposition, was presented by Channel 5's Fifth Gear presenter, Jonny Smith, in recognition of Volvo Trucks' development of environmental and fuel-saving solutions for truck operators in connection with the new Volvo FH.
As the year drew to a close, Transport News, Scotland's oldest and most prestigious transport publication, awarded the new FH its ‘Top Truck Award 2014'. The well respected magazine for transport operators in Scotland and Northern England said the Volvo "stood head and shoulders above the short-listed group, thereby making the judge's decision a straightforward and unanimous one."
Arne Knaben, Managing Director for Volvo Group UK, commented: "I am pleased that the new Volvo FH has been recognised as setting the benchmark for trucks in the UK and Ireland. Now we can follow this up by offering our customers the most modern and innovative Volvo line-up ever and these awards will only serve to sharpen our competitive edge throughout 2014."
