Volvo drivers after more space and greater comfort will soon be able to specify an even larger cab for the brand's FH prime mover, with Volvo Truck Australia recently unveiling its concept FH XXL cab.
Revealed in Queensland at a Volvo customer dinner during the recent Brisbane Truck Show, the concept cab is 200 millimetres longer than the largest cab currently available here in the Volvo line-up, the XL Globetrotter.
Volvo says the FH XXL cab also encompasses "noticeable improvements to the driver's work and living conditions with additional space and accommodation for storage".
Volvo stresses that the cab was shown purely in concept form, and will now undergo rigorous testing to meet safety and quality standards before it is officially introduced to the Australian market.
Mitch Peden, Vice President of Volvo Truck Australia, said the cab underlined the close relationship Volvo has with its customers.
"We are extremely excited to be introducing the FH XXL cab concept here in Australia," he said.
"As always, we have been listening closely to our customers and there has been a strong and clear demand for this product."
Mr Peden also said the development of the FH XXL cab was proof of Australia's important place in Volvo's global customer network.
"Showcasing the FH XXL cab signals our intention to bring this project to commercial reality," he said.
"There have been some obvious challenges to developing a product that is considered niche in the global product portfolio. However, the fact that we are able to showcase a concept cab today shows that we are committed to bringing this product to market while also underlining the importance of the Australian market and customers within Volvo Trucks’ global operations."
