VTA elects new President and Vice President

Transport professional Mike Lean elected to the top job

The Victorian Transport Association elected a new President and Vice President at the Association’s Annual General Meeting in Melbourne last week.

Mike Lean was elected President, replacing Cameron Dunn who has held the role since 2016. Mr Lean is CEO of national road transport operator Wettenhalls and is a seasoned professional within the transport industry. He has significant experience in senior levels of the armed forces, and business. Previously holding the role as Vice President of the VTA, he was also Chair of the VTA Finance Committee.

Prior to his appointment at Wettenhalls Mr Lean was CEO of the Port of Hastings Development Authority, General Manager of the shipyard in Williamstown and Operations Manager of a large workshop and warehousing distribution facility in Wodonga, amongst other private sector executive roles. He served in the military for over 30 years, including as a commanding officer of an Infantry battalion in East Timor.

The Executive Council also elected Mick Rocke as Vice President, filling the role formerly occupied by Mike Lean. Mr Rocke has a wealth of experience within the industry and was the recent recipient of the VTA’s W.F.D Chalmers Award.

Dennis Ryan was also re-elected Vice President for another term.

“On behalf of the Secretariat of the VTA, we extend our congratulations and best wishes to Mike, Mick and Dennis on their elections and wish them every success,” said VTA CEO Peter Anderson.

“I would also like to acknowledge and thank Cameron Dunn for the energy, professionalism and enthusiasm he has brought to the Executive Council as President over the last three years.

“Cameron has presided over many milestones for the VTA including the establishment of the successful Driver Delivery program, our work on heavy vehicle licensing reform, our establishment of the Cleaner Freight Initiative in Melbourne’s inner west, our relocation to Webb Dock, and numerous other initiatives,” Anderson said.

“He has been a tremendous support to me, and the Secretariat tasked [him] with implementing the strategic direction of the Council, and we are grateful for his years of dedicated service.”
