Warranty boost for used Kenworths

PACCAR Australia has teamed up with Cummins South Pacific to offer a two-year, 250,000 kilometre parts-only engine warranty on selected pre-owned Cummins ISX EGR-powered Kenworth trucks purchased through the PACCAR Australia Dealer Network.

Models included in this program include cab over K108 and K200 models in addition to T402, T403, T408, T409, T408SAR, T409SAR, T608, T609, T658, T659, T908, T909, C508 and C509 bonneted variants.

The factory-backed warranty delivers peace of mind for used-truck buyers, providing nationwide coverage on selected vehicles for a comprehensive range of engine parts, spanning cylinder heads to oil pump, crankshaft to ECM, turbo to EGR components, and much, much more.

According to Daniel Crawford, Operations Manager at Kenworth DAF Melbourne East dealerships, warranty coverage for second-hand vehicles in the marketplace has traditionally been a patchy affair, with buyers often taking their chances on a pre-owned purchase. Mr Crawford said this two-year warranty represents a significant opportunity for truck buyers.

"There's never been a program within the PACCAR dealer network, or outside it, that has provided such confidence to the customer when buying a second-hand vehicle," he said.

"Customers will have an engine warranty package that gives them a clear understanding of what they're buying and what is covered, for the substantial term of two years or 250,000 kilometres, whichever comes first."

The coverage is only available on selected Cummins ISX EGR-powered Kenworth trucks purchased through the official PACCAR dealer network.

"It's not just a carte blanche on any truck," says Mr Crawford.

"There's a thorough verification process which means that the engine itself is certified by Cummins."

Trucks covered by the warranty need only be taken to the nearest PACCAR or Cummins outlet to have any warranty work carried out. Parts specified in the warranty will be replaced per the warranty agreement as needed at no charge. Labour costs for warranty work are excluded from cover.

Mr Crawford says the warranty will give the PACCAR used-truck market a significant boost.

"If people are going to buy a second-hand truck, the best second-hand truck is a Kenworth truck purchased through a PACCAR dealer, and with this used truck warranty they can have complete confidence in Cummins ISX EGR-powered models."

Competitive engine freshen-up packages are also available via the PACCAR network on these applicable vehicles.
