As we reported here
recently, the Volvo Group Trucks Roadshow kicked off at the CMV Mack/UD dealership in Laverton, Victoria on May 10. The fully-loaded trucks will travel around the country offering test drives to fleet operators and owner/drivers.
The show was hailed as a big success in Victoria and as it took off for Adelaide last week, we climbed aboard for the ride.
Your humble scribe jumped into a UD GW 26 420 tipper and dog for the run from Laverton in Melbourne’s west to Nhill, then a Volvo FH16 700 B-Double loaded with nearly 52 tonnes from Nhill to Tailers Bend, and finally a Mack Super-Liner B-Double loaded with 58 tonnes of concrete for the final run into Adelaide.
The Adelaide section of the Roadshow was held at the fabulous new South Central Trucks dealership in Adelaide which really is a showcase of just how far truck dealerships have come recently.
The trucks being showcased are those that are most in demand in industry segments around Australia today:
>> Volvo FH16 700 and Mack Super-Liner 685hp configured as B-doubles
>> Volvo FM540 and 500hp Mack Granite set up for line-haul work
>> UD GW 26 420 tipper and dog for the construction segment
>> UD PD 24 280 curtain-sider for local distribution.
The Adelaide stopover was also hailed as a great success with the trucks on constant rotation being driven by operators keen to know how they performed with a full load.
The convoy will now take to the road with further stopovers in Sydney and Newcastle, before finishing in Brisbane on June 10.
President of Volvo Group Australia, Peter Voorhoeve, said: "Our customers are the heart of our business. We’re taking our Volvo, UD and Mack trucks out to the people all around the country so we can learn more about how we can build their business and improve their profitability.
"This is an opportunity not to be missed," said Peter. "It’s a chance to get in the cab and see how our various models perform under realistic conditions – for our customers and also for those transport operators who’ve never driven a Volvo, UD or Mack truck.
Test drive opportunities are limited, so bookings are essential through the local dealerships.
At each event, the support teams from Volvo, UD and Mack will be offering visitors the chance to see how they can save up to 10 per cent in fuel costs by using telematics, preventative maintenance and driver coaching. Experts from Volvo, Mack and UD Financial Services will also be on hand, offering their extensive knowledge of the industry and explaining how to improve profitability.
There will also be a number of exclusive offers which will only be available on the day.
"We offer the complete range of the highest-quality trucks," said Voorhoeve. "But more importantly we put our customers at the centre of everything we do. For us it’s all about service."
Interested transport operators are welcome to call the dealers to book their test drives.
