Ford Performance Racing has inked a deal with Western Star Trucks Australia that has seen the truck firm sign on as FPV’s ‘Official Transporter’ for the 2014 V8 Supercar Championship season.
Western Star is providing two 4800FXB prime movers to haul B-doubles and over 100 tonnes of cars and equipment for FPV, which includes the Bottle-O Racing Team and reigning Bathurst 1000 winners, the Ford Pepsi Max Crew.
According to Don Hanson, General Manager Marketing for Western Star Trucks Australia, the collaboration works well for both parties.
“Partnering with Ford Performance Racing is great for the Western Star brand, our dealer network and customer base,” he said.
“The team enjoyed great success in 2013 and garnered a large amount of exposure throughout the racing calendar. Western Star is keen to assist the team to greater success in 2014.”
Team Principal of Ford Performance Racing, Tim Edwards, was also thrilled with the tie-up.
“Performance and power are two critical factors for success in motorsport and with Western Star we have both in abundance, so we are very happy,” he said.
“Our prime movers have a big following at all the races and our new units look very impressive with the additional FPR touches on the chassis and the cabin, so I’m sure our fans will enjoy seeing them on the highway and parked up at the race track.”
