The recent Trucking Australia 2014 conference held on Hamilton Island (Qld) saw the Australian Trucking Association (ATA) name the winning bidders of its 2014 tender process.
Each year the ATA's tender process sees bidders enter blind bids for a variety of donated truck hardware and related equipment, with the money raised helping the peak body go about its representative duties through the year.
The winning bidders for the 2014 tender process were announced at the Gala Dinner at Trucking Australia 2014, before the unveiling of the 2014 National Trucking Industry Awards.
The President of Volvo Group Australia, Peter Voorhoevehe (pictured, left), announced the new Volvo FH540 prime mover had been secured by Adrian 'Flea' Nolan (pictured, right) of Nolan's Interstate Transport in Gatton, Qld, while the CIMC flat-deck curtain-sider B-double set went to David Simon of Toowoomba's Simon National Carriers.
After five years of involvement in the tender process, the Managing Director of CIMC Australia, Hector Ojea, took the opportunity at the Gala Dinner to announce that his company had reconfirmed its commitment to the scheme, and would be supplying a trailer each year for a further five years.
Scott Davidson of Brisbane-based Queensland Meat Carriers got a little more than he bargained for in bidding on the Thermo King SB330 refrigeration unit previously used by the ATA's Safety Truck.
After inadvertently selling the slightly used unit, Thermo King Regional Director – Australasia, Peter Lawrence, said the firm would be supplying Davidson with a brand new unit instead.
That left the Thermo King Precedent S600 refrigeration unit with custom airbrush scheme, the latter celebrating the firm's 75th anniversary. Also the first of Thermo King's new Precedent range to make it to our shores, the unit was successfully purchased by Noelene Watson (pictured, centre) of Don Watson Transport, based in Bacchus Marsh, Victoria.
The funds raised by the auction will now go to the ATA's war chest, assisting it to carry out its advocacy work over the next 12 months.
