Woolworths expands Hino delivery fleet

Supermarket giant Woolworths Australia has bolstered its Woolworths Online delivery fleet with a large consignment of new Hino trucks

Woolworths Online recently boosted its fleet of delivery trucks with a sizeable consignment of Hino 616 IFS 300 Series models, the newcomers sporting bodies built by TRS to transport groceries at a range of temperatures.

The new trucks joins the existing Hino models in the Woolworths fleet.

Woolworths' Logistics Manager, Gavin Keelty, said the Hino contract was given the nod after an exhaustive and lengthy tender process.

"Our tender process involved road testing and comparisons with other brands on our fleet, and this confirmed our belief that Hino makes a good product," he said.

"The drivers tested a range of different vehicles and provided positive feedback on the new Hinos.

"Our bodybuilders confirmed that the 616 IFS 300 Series would be able to support the kind of application we need it for, and we also made sure that the service network and aftersales support met our standards.

"Our existing partnership with Hino is strong and the service has been exceptional, which helped when making the final decision."

The Hino 616 IFS features independent double-wishbone coil suspension and a full suite of safety systems, including Vehicle Stability Control as standard.

According to Mr Keelty, the Hinos will allow Woolworths to reach its full potential in the growing field of home grocery deliveries.

"We're aiming to keep up with market growth and improve our services and we're confident we've chosen the right truck to help achieve our goals," he said.
